This story was excerpted from an interview in September 2026 with Charlotte and Tonya Huskins.
Charlotte Huskins Yeah, it was my mom. We used to live right down here, the house ain’t there no more but. And like I said, my bedroom was oh, in the, well in the when it was warm in the spring, summer, fall, the year when it was warm. My bedroom was off behind the house. It had a whole big old thing down the whole back section of the house. My had a bed. I had dressers and stuff up here in the corner, and then in the other corner they had a big old quilting loom. They called them looms and quilting frames where they put their quilts over it. You know, you can make them smaller, make them bigger, just build about whatever you want. And they used to get in- all them women used to get there. And I always said, you do more gossiping than you do quilting.
