One of the things I remember about the park is that my mother belonged to a neighborhood women’s club, and every summer they had a picnic, and they would get ice cream, and that was kind of a specialty to be have bought an ice cream. We always had homemade ice cream, And so, and I didn’t like homemade ice cream because I got brain freeze from it all the time. So, but anyway, one day we was in here lined up with kids lined up to get our ice cream cone, and the guy, well, Charlie Barth was dipping it up, and there’s kind of a panhandle around here that always, every time there’s a picnic or something, he’s always coming in handing. Anyway, he had a grabbed a cone and stuck it in there, and Charlie he was had a butcher knife, and I didn’t at the time. I he came down like that, slapped the guy across the wrist. At the time, I thought he was looking for his hand to fall off. Scared the heck out of us, kids. We backed up. I think he hit it flat and told the guy to quit, quit hanging around. But this, getting off the subject, this guy would go to the dump or the trash and garbage and pick out old food, take it home to his wife if she didn’t get sick on it, and he would eat it. He was a real sweet guy.
