This story is excerpted from an interview conducted in Rushville in August 2026 by Owen and Marlene Davis

Marlene Davis: Yeah, this used to be IGA. Yeah, but yeah, I don’t know. We, I mean, we had a great time. We always we’d go joke with the neighbors. We’d pull tricks on them. You know, we’d just you know put snakes where they. We just don’t have time to do that anymore. You know, or don’t have the closeness because everybody’s busy and gone, or the kids are in games, or. Always chasing something, yeah. 

Shyanne Bellamy: So kind of that closeness.  

Marlene Davis: Yeah,yeah. Where you, yeah. You know, you park a couple miles away and walk into their place to pull some trick on them, you know. 

Owen Davis: Like we took all their furniture out of the living room and put it in the kitchen. 

Marlene Davis: Yeah. 

Shyanne Bellamy: What? Who are these people? Are they just like- 

Marlene Davis: Just neighbors. Yeah. Yeah. Joke around with each other. Yeah. 

Shyanne Bellamy: What was their reaction to that? 

Marlene Davis: We weren’t there when they found it. 

Shyanne Bellamy:  I love that. That’s awesome. 

Marlene Davis: Yeah. There’s one. One of the neighbors would go to one of the others, every night, and turn on his yard light, and then leave, and did that several nights, and they couldn’t figure out what who’s leaving the yard light on, and then they caught him. There was they had a bridge to go into their house. They came home and caught him walking back across the bridge, so he did get caught.
