Developed in collaboration with The School for Inclement Weather in Kashia Pomo territory, brontë velez’s Fire Feast will honor local communities creating firebreaks: Indigenous and otherwise fire practitioners, land stewards, cultural workers, teachers, and elders engaged in traditional ecological knowledge, land stewardship, and memory-keeping for endangered practices.

About the Artist

brontë velez (b. 1994) is a black-boricua transdisciplinary ritual artist, shepherd, and cultural worker whose eco-social practice seeks to restore sacred relationships between labor, land, ritual, and craft. They are co-director of The School for Inclement Weather in Kashia Pomo territory, adult programs director and climate chaplain for ATTUNE at Weaving Earth, and an MDiv candidate at Duke Divinity.
