I was born in my parents’ home

Gathering:

Prompt: What was it like to grow up in Rushville?

I was born in my parents’ home, a mile and a half out of town. When I was young, my dad had a milk route. That was kind of my parents’ cash crop during the depression. My dad— my dad milked 18 cows by hand, and we delivered milk every day in town, and my— I had two older brothers. As we got old enough to do it we each took our turn at doing the route, as my parents say, and it has— I kind of lost my train of thought there. Anyway, so we were always, we were in town every day. We delivered milk every day. Eventually on Sunday, we only brought milk to the drugstore, needed cream on Sunday morning we took that, but kind of a side note to the people who came to town on Saturday night, we never did because we were in town all the time and my uncle from Montana was here one time, and as a, as a note about how crowded it was on Saturday night, my uncle always — he remarked that the only requirement to park in Rushville on Saturday night was to stop.
