About the Artist

Jeffrey Gibson (b.1972) is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, and convener celebrated for his work in painting, installation, video, and performance. For over two decades, he has examined how language, pattern, and music construct meaning, synthesizing Indigenous and Western traditions through vibrant color, complex patterning, and layered sound. A member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and of Cherokee descent, Gibson represented the U.S. at the 2024 Venice Biennale, and his work is held in major collections including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AK, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
Anita Fields (b. 1951, OK) is a multi-disciplinary artist and citizen of the Osage Nation. Known for her works which combine clay and textile with Osage knowledge systems, Fields explores the intricacies of cultural influences at the intersections of balance and chaos found within our existence. Her works are featured in various institutional collections including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of Art and Design, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Dartmouth College, and the Heard Museum. Fields is 2017-2023 Tulsa Artist Fellowship alumni, and was named a National Endowment of the Arts Heritage Fellow in 2021. She has received numerous awards, including a Anonymous Was a Woman award (2021), Francis J Greenburger award (2022), and in 2025 she was elected into the Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Yatika Starr Fields (b. 1980, OK) is a multi-disciplinary artist whose distinctive visual language honors movement, complexity, and cultural continuity. A member of the Osage, Cherokee, and Muscogee Nations, Fields grounds his work in Indigenous identity while challenging assumptions about Native art and amplifying narratives of contemporary Indigenous life. His dynamic, color-saturated compositions often blend figurative elements with cultural and historical motifs, inviting viewers to explore layered narratives and find personal connections. Through this interplay, Fields creates a space for dialogue, one that bridges individual experience with shared memory and collective history. Fields’ practice has taken him around the world, collaborating with institutions and museums to expand perspectives on Indigenous art in contemporary contexts. He attended the Art Institute of Boston and spent a decade living and working in New York City. From 2017 to 2023, Fields was a Tulsa Artist Fellow. He currently works and lives in Tulsa, OK.
